The MouthPad^ is a custom-fit mouse that allows for hands-free control of personal electronic devices through tongue, head, and breath gestures. It has a plug-and-play design that connects via a standard Bluetooth pairing, and works in all major operating systems, regardless of version. The MouthPad^ is invisible, compatible with voice control, easy to carry, easy to learn, and requires no setup.

Cursor control is enabled by tongue or head movements, according to the user's preference. Tongue presses are used for left-click and click-and-drag. Sip gestures are used for right-clicks. We've also integrated more sophisticated gestures such as scrolling and swiping, expanding the dimensions of control.

The MouthPad^ has been designed with comfort as a top priority. Still, comfort is subjective and can depend on factors such as the individual's mouth shape, size, and the specific use case. Our team members and early users have worn the MouthPad^ for extended periods — up to ten hours a day — and have found it to be comfortable.

Yes, you can speak while wearing the MouthPad^. Its custom design minimizes the impact on speech, making it easy to talk or use voice recognition software while wearing the device.

However, please note that results can vary, and some people may need more time than others to adjust to speaking normally while using the device.

The MouthPad^ is designed and manufactured by Augmental Technologies Inc., also known as Augmental, located in San Francisco, California. Augmental is an MIT Media Lab spin-off dedicated to developing human augmentation technologies. Our goal is to provide everyone with more intuitive ways to interact with computing systems.

The MouthPad^ is best suited for people over the age of 18 who have sufficient tongue dexterity, good oral health, and no ongoing dental or orthodontic treatments. Users must also have the physical ability to open their mouth wide enough for their initial 3D mouth scan.

The MouthPad^ is equipped with the Bluetooth Low Energy Human Interface Device mouse (BLE HID) protocol that allows it to connect to various devices, including computers, smartphones, and tablets. In general, it should be able to connect to any device that supports a Bluetooth mouse.

We have verified that it is compatible with the systems listed in the table below.

The MouthPad^ is designed to be light-weight and durable, and with safety in mind. Its encapsulation is made with KeySplint Soft resin, a dental-grade material that is commonly used in dental aligners, bite guards, and other oral appliances. The device is powered by a battery manufactured by Varta, a company with a long track record of producing safe, medical implant-grade batteries.

The MouthPad^ weighs approximately 7.5 g and is about 80 x 50 x 30 mm in size. Its lightweight and small design makes it portable enough to be carried inside its case, in your pocket. Please note that these dimensions may vary across different mouth shapes.

The device has a general thickness of approximately 1 mm, except around the electronics. This thin design allows for a discreet and seamless experience for users. The tongue-trackpad on the roof of the mouth has a thickness of about 5 mm.

The battery lasts for over 5 hours of continuous use. This allows for prolonged use of the MouthPad^ without worrying about running out of battery.

It takes approximately 1.5 hours to fully charge the MouthPad^. It can be recharged over 500 times from low to full charge before decreasing in overall performance.

It's important to note that the actual battery life and charge cycles may vary depending on usage and settings.

The MouthPad^ comes with a charging case and cable. The charging case (printed with PETG) weighs 112 grams and is 38 x 75 x 95 mm in size. The cable that comes with the package is a USB-C to USB-A cable.

The package offers a personalized onboarding experience and follow-up meetings with our customer support team. This means that Augmental team members will personally walk you through every step of our initial configuration process when you receive yourMouthPad^, and they will remain on standby if you ever need help moving forward.

This package also includes your initial 3D mouth scan, access to software updates, and a 1-year warranty.

1. Join the Waitlist

   Complete a brief survey with your contact information to get your spot in line. We'll contact you with more information as soon as possible. Please note that we're releasing our product in stages due to limited production capacity.

2. Reserve your MouthPad^

   Once we notify you that you are next in line, you will have the chance to purchase your device.

3. Get an intraoral scan

   In order to make your MouthPad^, we require an intraoral 3D scan of your mouth. After placing your order, you'll receive an email from us referring you to our closest dental scanning partner (or your personal dentist, if they are willing and able to assist.) If we do not have a partner near your address, we will immediately start looking. Augmental will cover the scan cost.

4. We’ll build your custom MouthPad^

   With your dental scan, we'll manufacture your custom MouthPad^, ensuring maximum comfort. We'll be sure to keep you updated on the progress of your order.

5. Receive your MouthPad^

   After your device is manufactured, we will notify you and arrange for it to be shipped right away.

   Your device will be delivered straight to your doorstep. Our team will schedule a remote onboarding session with you to help you configure your MouthPad^ and guide you through an easy, one-time calibration process. After that, you can start using your MouthPad^!

The priority of the waitlist is based on several factors, including location and intended use case. Fulfillment time will vary, meaning we cannot provide an exact timeline. Feel free to ask us about your spot in the waitlist at any time.

Once we receive your scan, you can expect to receive your device in approximately 1-3 months.

If you've decided to cancel your order, you can get a full refund.

We believe we can accommodate most mouths with our custom design production process, but if we cannot make a product for you then we will issue a full refund.

If you buy the Early Access MouthPad^ and are not satisfied with it, you can get a full refund, provided that you return it within 30 days of delivery.

We offer a one-year limited warranty. If your device breaks or fails during this time because of a design or manufacturing flaw, we will send you a replacement at no cost.
